SEO is Sexy

I had to dig deep for this title because SEO is just not sexy.  SEO is like the guy you see in the corner who is wearing the cardigan with stains on the arms at your friend's birthday party that you hope like hell does not hit on you.  Then after he leaves you learn he owns your favorite clothing store and you drink a stiff drink in regret. Ok, it's not that bad but dude, it's so damn hard to figure out.  Like what, meta tags should be ignored? What the hell is meta deta and what should I be doing with my title tags? Go through Each video below to learn your way around SEO. SEO is not something that you will see results for overnight and depending on your target keywords, it might take years to rank for it naturally. Slow and steady like a tortoise is the best approach. Here is a website to plug in your website URL to get some beginning stats. You'll want to pay attention to your Google Page Rank, Moz Rank, and what keywords are showing up.  Every page (see category page video) has a rank also, so check out your pages to see how they rank. In a nut shell, the higher the PR and Moz rank you have, the more likely you are going to show up first in the search engine. You want this.  This takes work so don't be discouraged when you first get started.  You can improve these numbers by creating posts that help support your keywords, sharing them, and bookmarking them. Hopefully, you have a tribe (network of fellow bloggers) that will share your posts and also build more links back to your site (if not, get one of these stat). Before you jump into this you need to decide what you want to be the main keywords for your site.  You should already have some idea of what you want to rank for.   From your main keywords, you should think of several keywords that back up this keyword. I love Ubersuggest for brainstorming keywords. Now, let's get through some of the nitty gritty of what settings and plugins you will need to correctly SEO your website and posts. First, let's update the number of sites that are pinged when you publish new content and make sure your WordPress settings are optimized. 1. Download the Ping-Sites and copy and past the sites into the Update Services area in Wordpress. Watch the video to see how to do this. No one leaves comments anymore, but they are a great natural way to meet new people and build quality back links.  Some people will specifically look for people with high Google Page Ranks that give dofollow in their comment section (Wordpress automatically sets comment links as nofollow) and leave quality comments in an attempt to raise their PR.  I don't do this. I would rather comment on a similar niche so Google sees that I'm all an expert in my field versus simply going for link juice in a niche that has nothing to with mine. All social media is a quality backlink so share every post via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest (which also is a PR 9), and G+. I recommend the Simple Share Adder Plugin for easy sharing. Then for extra juice use social bookmarking sites to help build street cred.  There are many out there but these are the ones that I use. By the way, I do not do this for every post, but I would do it for important pages/keywords you are trying to rank for. Reddit (I recommend finding a buddy to place the link for you) Diigo StumbleUpon Delicious Bibsonomy LinkedIn   Last by not least, I'm going to recommenced BizXpress for keyword research.  You do not have to do this immediately but it's good to get an idea of keywords to target for blog posts.
